BECOMING US:
Relationship Preparation Workshop for Expecting Couples
Becoming Us:
A Relationship Preparation Workshop for Expecting Couples
Preparing for a baby often means creating a registry, attending birth classes, and reading parenting books. Yet one of the biggest changes you'll experience isn't simply becoming parents—it's becoming parents together.
The transition into parenthood is one of life's most significant relationship shifts. Sleep deprivation, changing roles, new responsibilities, shifting identities, and the emotional intensity of caring for a newborn and beyond can challenge even the healthiest relationships.
Becoming Us is an educational workshop designed to help expecting couples prepare for the emotional and relational realities of life with a baby. Rather than focusing on labor techniques or newborn care, this workshop helps you understand how stress affects your nervous systems, how to stay connected during difficult moments, and how to navigate this season as teammates instead of opponents. Supporting the transition into parenthood before baby arrives!
Together, we'll explore:
How pregnancy and parenthood impact your relationship
Understanding stress responses and nervous system regulation
Why conflict often changes after baby arrives
Attachment and emotional connection in your partnership
Communication tools for difficult conversations
Division of responsibilities and managing expectations
Repairing after conflict with compassion
Building rituals of connection amid the demands of new parenthood
Creating a shared vision for your growing family
This workshop combines practical education, guided conversations, reflective exercises, and take-home resources that you can continue using long after your baby arrives.
You'll leave with a deeper understanding of one another, practical tools for navigating the transition into parenthood, and greater confidence in building the kind of relationship you want your child to grow up witnessing.
Who this workshop is for:
Whether you're first-time parents or growing your family, this workshop is for couples who want to prepare for more than just birth. It's for partners who want to preserve connection through this transition, communicate well through change, navigate the emotional transition into parenthood as a team, and build a secure foundation for their growing family. You don't have to be struggling to benefit—this workshop is designed to help you proactively maintain the kind of relationship you both want to bring your baby into.
Why This Work Matters:
Children learn about connection, emotional safety, communication, and repair through the relationships around them. They do not need parents who never struggle or never disagree—they need parents who know how to reconnect, take responsibility, offer compassion, and return to one another after difficult moments"
As a therapist, I have the privilege of sitting with people during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of their lives. One thing I see again and again is how much our relationships shape the way we move through the world—how we communicate, how we respond under stress, how we repair after moments of disconnection, and how safe we feel being fully ourselves with another person.
The transition into parenthood brings incredible joy, but it also brings profound change. Sleep deprivation, shifting identities, new responsibilities, and the emotional intensity of caring for a baby can place even strong relationships under new pressure. Many couples are deeply committed to each other and their growing family, yet find themselves surprised by how difficult it can feel to stay connected during this season.
This is not because something is wrong with their relationship. It is because becoming parents asks couples to navigate one of life's biggest transitions together.
The relationship you build with one another becomes part of the environment your child grows within. Children learn about connection, emotional safety, communication, and repair through the relationships around them. They do not need parents who never struggle or never disagree—they need parents who know how to reconnect, take responsibility, offer compassion, and return to one another after difficult moments.
This workshop exists because preparation for parenthood is about more than preparing for birth and caring for a baby. It is also about preparing the relationship that will carry your family through the years ahead.
Together, we will explore the skills and awareness that help couples remain connected through change: understanding each other's nervous systems, communicating with greater compassion, navigating conflict with care, and intentionally creating the kind of partnership you want your child to experience.Choose Your Experience:
